Puola 23-27.3 2009

Monday 23.3.09 (Matias & Raita)

We woke up in Helsinki, Omena Hotel, at 05.00 and took taxi from our hotel to the airport. Our flight took only 1 ½ hours. We arrived to Warsaw at 9 o'clock in local time. Ola and Krysia were there, and we talked with them and soon we took a small school bus to take us to the school. When we arrived to the school, there was the big group of Polish students who welcomed us. We met our hosts and had a breakfast - made by local students. After toast breakfast we were taken for a few lessons and it was nice. After the lessons, we had a lunch at the school canteen. And after lunch we were taken to the hosts homes. In the evening some of the Comenius students went to the Poland´s biggest movie theatre, where we watched one movie called Slum dog Millionaire. It was a good movie. After the movie we went to our host houses.

Tuesday 24.3.09 (Senni)

We woke up at seven and breakfast in the hotel was at eight o'clock. There we ate for example bread rolls, cheeses and sausages. Then we went to school by bus. The weather was raining and very windy. At first the headmaster of the school told us about their school and Polish school system generally. After that we listened to some teachers of the other countries. Polish pupils also had some dance performances. The next we talked about healthy food. A teacher told us about different ways, how to check if the food is healthy or not. We counted points of our own food diaries with some kind of tablet. If you have many points, you´ll eat healthy food. Then we compared the results with other countries. Then we started to practise traditional songs of our countries. Finland's song was called "Kalliolle, kukkulalle". I accompanied it with piano. We sang and played the songs to the people of other countries. I think the songs were very nice. After that it was lunch time and we ate in the school canteen. There was vegetable soup and at desert we had delicious crepes filled with quark. At 13:45 we left for the city to a guided tour where my friends took photos with my camera. First we went to see the Royal Palace, then we continued to a beautiful park. There was the Chopin's monument in the middle of the park. We also went down the Royal route and visited the old town, where we saw for instance a big and old church and Royal Castle. After sightseeing we had some free time in the city and I went to buy a hamburger. I also bought a small picture of Chopin's monument. The city tour finished about at five o'clock. I, Raita, Matias, some Polish and Austrian pupils went to Tosia's home to watch some film and eat crisps. I didn't understand very much about the film, although it was in English. I left for the hotel about half past six. At eight o'clock Raili and I went to the restaurant of the hotel. Then we went to the stall of the hotel to buy some water. It took me a long time to understand, what the word 'water with gas' means. After that we came back to our hotel room. I think it was very interesting day.

Wednesday 25.3.09 (Raita)

On Wednesday morning we went to some atelie where we made some "Food plates from the paper." When the plates were ready we cut them to four pieces and change them with each other. Then we put them to the big paper and decorated them. After that we went back to school for a lunch. We had pork with plums. It was jammy! After eating we took a bus to the Willanow Palace and where The Royal Family lived earlier. The Palace was amazing, but guide´s English was hard to follow. After the school day we went straight to the city and made some shoppings there.

Thursday 26.3.09 (Matias)

After breakfast in our hosts houses we went to the school. First all Comenius students were attending lessons. We had Physics and English lessons. There was a local fireman in Physics lesson, who showed us how the termovision camera works. And in English lesson we were divided into groups. We had inquiry about each country's English skills and lessons. After the English lesson we had art workshops. We prepared Easter cards, eggs and different kinds of Easter decorations. When we had finished the art works we had about 2 hours freetime. Many students were playing a game with a sportball. At 15.00 we had the lunch in the school canteen, and after lunch it was a time for ''the gala tea time meeting''. During the Easter presentations we ate many kinds of cakes. After the presentations every country sang the song of the other country. We sang Germans´ song "Lachen, lachen…" The Austrian group sang our song "Kalliolle, kukkulalle". After the meeting we had the farewell, there we changed our emails with other students and said bye bye to everyone. Then when we got out from the school, some of us, like Austrian girls, Polish students and 2 Finnish students continued to the city. There we walked all around the city and went for a restaurant for eating. When the time was something about 21.30, I said the final farewells to everybody, there was a little bit sadness in the air. I think that Thursday was the nicest day, because everybody talked much and everyone was going to know each other better. That was a pity that is was the last day in Warsaw.
