Comenius- Food For Thought
The project between Bad Kreuzen, Austria; Osnabrück, Germany; Warsaw, Poland and Kontiolahti, Finland started in autumn 2007. The theme of the project is food -both for thought and body. The first meeting took place in Osnabrück where the participants discussed local food vs. exported food. During the second meeting in Kontiolahti the topic was about traditional food. In Bad Kreuzen we took a closer look at organic food and in Warsaw the topic will be Health Food.
Between the project meetings the participants study the topic in detail, we ,for example, exchange recipes between the countries, gather information about Christmas and Easter traditions, make a newspaper research on organic food and write down a food diary. During the project meetings, we discuss the topic, prepare food together, eat a generous meal and get to know the habits of each participating country.
Both pupils and teachers are participating in the project. The pupils stay in the families so they also become acquainted with the new culture more thoroughly. They compare the family life as well as the school life in their own countries and abroad. Also the teachers can make a comparison between the different school systems, teaching methods and the whole status of being a teacher. And during the process, both teachers and pupils make long lasting relationships.
